Our Journey Begins

Word of advice: always be a little pessimistic about how your flight will turn out. As we were the example of delays, delays, delays; First and foremost, the flight to Poland from NYC was definitely one for the books. After what seemed like eternity to board the plane, I was seated with two golden oldies, who, by the looks of it, could not stop giving me the side eyes (as if I was the first foreigner to fly to Poland). It was like that during the whole trip. FUN. The flight was supposed to be 8 hours, but turned out to be more of an eternity, and with the two children shrieking sounds of hell and me falling asleep on the old man next to me, the flight was a daunting. The next leg of our trip was not so bad. After arriving at Warsaw, we passed through customs and again through airport security. Poland is unsuspectingly strict with their security -- this was the first time I was patted down by a security officer. During the delay (yes, we were delayed again on our second flight), I spoke to my partner in crime, Shan, of our journey. We had plans to go to Ukraine, but it remains up in the air:

Me: So you want to go to Crimea?
Shan: yeah
Me: I don't know if we'll be able to get in, with all the fighting that is going on. I asked my brother if Crimea was part of Ukraine or Russia and he said 'THAT'S WHAT THE FIGHT IS ABOUT!!'

In any case, worse comes to worse, we'll wing it. Arriving at Hungary was another chaotic mess. Our scheduled driver was supposed to drive us to Oradea for 30 dollars, he was nowhere to be found. He got tired of waiting for us... So, we ended up taking a $200 cab ride to my friend's place. Let's see how things go now. Hopefully not too American, because according to my friend, we are the epitomes of tourist.
